Pimpri Chinchwad Flood Crisis: 1,880 Residents Evacuated To Safety Amid Heavy Rains
Pimpri, July 6, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has evacuated 1,880 residents from flood-affected areas to safer locations as of 12 noon on Monday, following heavy rainfall that has triggered flooding in several parts of the city.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi said the civic body has set up relief shelters at multiple locations, providing food, medical assistance, drinking water, and other essential amenities to displaced residents. The PCMC’s Disaster Control Room has also been kept operational round the clock to respond to emergencies.

Continuous rainfall over the past two days has caused water levels in the rivers flowing through Pimpri Chinchwad to rise significantly. As a precautionary measure, residents living along riverbanks have been evacuated to prevent any loss of life or property.
Reviewing the flood situation, Dr. Suryawanshi directed officials to closely monitor river water levels and issue advance warnings through public announcement systems in vulnerable areas. He instructed the administration to ensure timely evacuation of residents and take all necessary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
Medical teams have been deployed at all relief centres to conduct health check-ups and provide first aid to flood-affected residents. Officials have also been instructed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of food, drinking water, and other basic necessities at the shelters.
The Commissioner appealed to citizens to contact the PCMC Main Control Room at 020-67331111 or 020-28331111, or the Fire Department helpline at 7030908991, in case of any emergency.
