Pune, July 6, 2026: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours across the Pune Metropolitan Region has led to multiple emergencies, including landslides, flooding, and road blockages, prompting swift large-scale rescue operations by the PMRDA Fire Brigade and the Pune Metropolitan Disaster Response Force (PDRF). Several citizens trapped in flood-hit and landslide-affected areas were safely evacuated, while coordinated efforts continue at multiple critical locations.

Officials said the emergency response teams undertook extensive rescue operations in Maval, Lonavala, Alandi, Chakan, and surrounding areas, where rising water levels and collapsing slopes disrupted normal life.

In major landslide incidents, search operations were carried out at Patan–Boraj Road in Lonavala, where the body of a third victim, a woman, was recovered after earlier locating two individuals. At Malavali, around 25–30 people were reported trapped following a landslide, while rescue operations are ongoing at Aapti village near Pawna Lake after similar reports of civilians being stranded.

In flood-related incidents, 20 police personnel and four civilians trapped at Kendra Maharaj Math in Alandi were safely rescued using life rings, life jackets, and ropes as river water levels rose sharply. At Chakan-Chimbli Phata, 20–25 workers trapped inside a company premises due to waterlogging were also evacuated safely.

Students stranded at Vedanta College in Lonavala were brought to safety, while 30–35 residents of Jambhe village were shifted to a nearby primary school as a precaution after water entered residential areas. At Ghorawadi station, passengers stuck in a waterlogged bus were rescued without injury.

In other operations, citizens trapped in homes and basement flooding at Kasar Sai and Mantra 24 West Society were evacuated promptly. In Dhayari’s Laxmi Park Society, two young girls aged 11 and 4, who were trapped inside a bedroom, were safely rescued by the response team.

Traffic disruptions were also reported after a thorny babul tree fell on a road in Dhanore village near Alandi. The obstruction was cleared using chain saws and cranes, restoring movement. In Nanded City’s Mangal Bhairav Society, a gas leak from a cylinder regulator was contained, and the cylinder was safely handed over to the concerned gas agency.

Authorities said PMRDA disaster response teams remain on high alert and are continuously monitoring the situation across all affected areas. Citizens have been urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
