What Happened at Devkund Waterfall? Two Pune Tourists Go Missing During Group Trip
Raigad, July 12, 2026: Two tourists from Pune are feared drowned after they were swept away while visiting the popular Devkund Waterfall in Mangaon taluka of Raigad district on Thursday. A large-scale search and rescue operation has been launched by the police and emergency response teams.
According to preliminary information, a group of 17 tourists from Pune had travelled to Devkund Waterfall for an outing. While enjoying the water near the waterfall, two members of the group reportedly slipped into deep water and went missing.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police personnel and rescue teams rushed to the spot and immediately launched a search operation. As of the latest update, the two missing tourists had not been traced. Their identities have not yet been officially disclosed.
The incident has raised serious questions as restrictions are currently in place at Devkund Waterfall and other monsoon tourist destinations in the Mangaon region due to heavy rainfall and safety concerns. Police deployment has also been maintained at the site to prevent visitors from entering hazardous areas.
Authorities are now investigating how the group managed to access the restricted tourist spot despite the existing safety measures.
The search operation is continuing on a war footing, with rescue teams combing the area in an effort to locate the missing tourists. Officials have urged visitors to strictly follow monsoon safety advisories and avoid entering waterfalls, rivers and other restricted tourist locations during the rainy season.
