Pune Experiences ‘October Heat’ Amid Monsoon Lull; Rain Likely To Return In 3–4 Days
Pune, July 15: Despite the ongoing monsoon season, Pune and its surrounding districts are witnessing unusually hot and humid weather, with maximum temperatures crossing 33°C in some areas. The prolonged dry spell over the past five to six days has led to conditions resembling the typical “October heat” experienced after the monsoon.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall activity has remained subdued across the city and district, resulting in a steady rise in daytime temperatures. Over the last 24 hours, the city’s maximum temperature climbed above 33°C in some locations, while residents experienced intense sunshine and uncomfortable humidity during the afternoon.

Earlier this month, an active monsoon phase brought heavy rainfall to Pune and surrounding districts, with extremely heavy rain recorded in the ghat regions. The widespread showers had lowered maximum temperatures to around 26–27°C, bringing cooler conditions across the region.
However, with the recent decline in rainfall, daytime temperatures have risen by 2–3°C over the past 48 hours, creating warm and humid conditions along with partly cloudy skies.
Baramati recorded the highest maximum temperature in the district at 33.2°C, followed by Dapodi (32.1°C), Chinchwad (31.7°C), Pashan, Haveli and Wadgaon Sheri (31.6°C each), Hadapsar (31.5°C) and Shivajinagar (31.2°C).
The Pune Meteorological Centre has forecast predominantly dry weather over the next two to three days, with partly cloudy skies during the afternoon. Rainfall activity is expected to strengthen again across Pune and nearby districts within the next three to four days.
Weather experts have also indicated that monsoon activity is likely to intensify further towards the end of July, bringing more widespread rainfall to the region.
