Pune, July 15, 2026: After a brief lull in monsoon activity over the past few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh spell of rainfall across Maharashtra beginning Wednesday, July 15. Yellow alerts have been issued for several districts in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, with thunderstorms and gusty winds expected in some areas.

The first week of July witnessed intense rainfall across the Konkan region before the monsoon weakened. According to the latest forecast, rainfall activity is expected to pick up again from mid-July.

In the Konkan region, Mumbai, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Yellow alerts have been issued for Thane and Raigad districts, where thunderstorms accompanied by winds of 30–40 kmph are expected.

In North Maharashtra, light rainfall has been forecast for Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik districts. The Nashik ghat areas remain under a Yellow Alert due to the possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 40 kmph. However, the region is yet to receive satisfactory monsoon rainfall.

Pune, Ahilyanagar and surrounding areas are expected to experience warm and humid conditions, with isolated light showers likely. Winds of 30–40 kmph may occur over the ghat sections. The IMD said it may take a few more days for the monsoon to regain full strength. Satara and Solapur are likely to come under a Yellow Alert on Thursday.

In the Marathwada region, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv districts. Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar may witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph. Dharashiv is expected to be under a Yellow Alert on Thursday.

No weather alerts have been issued for Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts. These regions are likely to continue experiencing hot and humid weather, with residents expected to wait a few more days for widespread rainfall.

The IMD has indicated that while rainfall has resumed from July 15, the monsoon is likely to become more active after July 20, bringing more widespread and intense showers across the state. Until then, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in many areas. Farmers and citizens have been advised to follow official advisories issued by the IMD and the Agriculture Department.
