Three Held for Breaking Into Parked Porsche At Phoenix Market City; Pune Airport Police Bust Inter-State Gang
Pune, July 15, 2026: The Pune Airport Police have arrested three members of an inter-state gang allegedly involved in breaking into parked cars and stealing valuables. The accused, all natives of Tamil Nadu, were apprehended following a CCTV-based investigation and technical surveillance.
According to the police, the case was registered after a complainant reported that unknown persons had broken the window of his Porsche parked at Phoenix Market City on Pune-Nagar Road on July 4. The thieves allegedly stole a laptop bag, a Samsung Z Fold mobile phone and ₹40,000 in cash after smashing the car’s rear window. A case was registered at Vimantal Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Acting on the directions of Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav, the investigation team examined CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby areas. Photographs of the suspects were circulated among police units and official networks.
On July 9, police received information about the suspects’ presence near the Kharadi Bypass. A team led by Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Rathod apprehended the trio and identified them as:
- Raja Arumugam (47), from Tiruchirappalli district, Tamil Nadu
- Lakshman S. Santhakumar (40), from Tiruchirappalli district, Tamil Nadu
- Muthulingam Parmanand Lingam (40), from Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu
During the operation, police seized tools allegedly used to break vehicle windows, including a ladies’ chopper, rubber pieces and metal implements, along with ₹50,000 in cash and other incriminating material. Preliminary investigation has also linked the accused to similar vehicle theft cases in Kharadi, Yerawada and Latur, police said.
Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Harshal Ghagare.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers of Pune City Police, including Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav and Police Inspector (Crime) Mahesh Bolke, with the Airport Police investigation team playing a key role in cracking the case.
