Pune, July 15, 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has carried out its largest-ever anti-encroachment operation, demolishing 680 illegal tin sheds and unauthorized commercial structures spread across 35 hectares in Moi village of Khed taluka.
The two-day demolition drive, conducted on July 13 and 14, lasted nearly 20 hours and involved around 1,000 personnel, including police, security forces, PMRDA officials, and other government agencies.

The operation was led by PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, under the supervision of Additional Metropolitan Commissioner K. Three fire engines, MSEDCL personnel, and officials from the Health Department and Khed Panchayat Samiti also remained on standby.
The demolition was carried out using 12 Pokland excavators, 12 JCB machines, tractors, tippers, hydra cranes, gas cutters, and other heavy machinery. The unauthorized structures were spread across 68 survey numbers in Moi village.
Senior officials, including PMRDA Vigilance Officer and Superintendent of Police Amol Zhende, Additional Commissioner of Police Basavaraj Teli, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Khedkar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Priya Dhamale, PMRDA Joint Commissioner Himmat Kharade, Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode, Mahalunge Police Inspector Vijay Dhamale, Tehsildars Ravindra Ranjane and Asha Holkar, and Deputy Engineers Ritesh Mundhe and Tapan Danke, monitored the operation on both days.

PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari reiterated that unauthorized constructions would not be tolerated within the authority’s jurisdiction.
“Illegal sheds and unauthorized constructions will not be allowed in PMRDA limits. The action in Moi is part of our ongoing enforcement drive. Citizens should not fall prey to illegal construction schemes, and strict action against such violations will continue in the future,” he said.
