Maharashtra Weather Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 16 Districts, Heavy Rain Likely Over Next Five Days
Mumbai, July 18, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an increase in monsoon activity across Maharashtra over the next five days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several parts of the state. A Yellow Alert has been issued for 16 districts, including Pune, warning of intense rainfall and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD’s latest forecast for Sunday, July 19, widespread rainfall is likely across Konkan, Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada, with isolated spells of heavy to very heavy rain expected in parts of Konkan and Vidarbha.

Yellow Alert Issued for 16 Districts
The IMD has placed the following districts under a Yellow Alert:
- Pune (including Ghat areas)
- Ahilyanagar
- Parbhani
- Beed
- Hingoli
- Akola
- Amravati
- Bhandara
- Buldhana
- Chandrapur
- Gadchiroli
- Gondia
- Nagpur
- Wardha
- Washim
- Yavatmal
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and localized waterlogging.
Rain Forecast Across Maharashtra
The weather department has predicted:
- Konkan and Vidarbha: Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.
- South Central Maharashtra and Marathwada: Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms at several locations.
- North Central Maharashtra: Light to moderate showers with the possibility of thunderstorms in a few districts.
The IMD said monsoon conditions are becoming favourable once again, leading to increased rainfall activity across most parts of the state during the coming days.
Mumbai Weather Forecast
For Mumbai and its suburbs, the IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 32°C and 26°C, respectively.

With rainfall expected to intensify across Maharashtra, residents are advised to monitor official weather updates, avoid venturing into waterlogged areas, and exercise caution while travelling, particularly in hilly regions and ghat sections where heavy showers may affect visibility and road conditions.
