Pune Traffic Advisory: Route Diversions Announced for ISKCON Jagannath Rath Yatra on July 19; Check Alternate Routes
Pune, July 18, 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the annual ISKCON Jagannath Rath Yatra, which will be held on Sunday, July 19. Temporary traffic diversions and road restrictions will remain in force from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm along the procession route to ensure smooth movement of devotees and public safety.
Jagannath Rath Yatra Procession Route
The Rath Yatra will commence from S.P. College and proceed via:
- Lokmanya Tilak Road
- Puram Chowk
- Bajirao Road
- Shanipar Chowk
- Nagarkar Talim Chowk
- Shagun Chowk
- Ramanbaug Chowk
- Omkareshwar Temple
- Balgandharva
- Jangli Maharaj Road
- Khandoji Baba Chowk
- Alka Talkies Chowk
The procession will conclude at S.P. College via Tilak Road.
Traffic Diversions
To manage traffic during the event, the following diversions will be implemented:
- Vehicles travelling from Alka Chowk towards Swargate via Tilak Road will be diverted through Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, Senadatta Chowk and Mangirbaba Chowk.
- Commuters travelling from Puram Chowk towards Deccan should use Bajirao Road instead of Tilak Road.
- Vehicles moving from Puram Chowk towards Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road will be diverted through Tilak Road and Alka Chowk.
- Motorists travelling from Belbaug Chowk towards Tilak Chowk via Laxmi Road should take the Sevasadan Chowk–Appa Balwant Chowk–Shaniwar Wada route.
- Traffic between Shagun Chowk and Omkareshwar Bridge will also be diverted. Commuters are advised to use Riverside Road and Laxmi Road as alternate routes.
Police Appeal
The Pune Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel, follow diversion signs, and plan their journeys in advance. Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes during the procession to avoid congestion in the city centre.
