Pune, July 18, 2026: After enduring nearly 10 days of hot and humid weather, Pune residents finally received relief as light rain returned to the city on Friday. The showers, reported across several parts of Pune and its suburbs, brought down temperatures and restored a pleasant chill to the atmosphere.

The city had witnessed heavy rainfall during the first week of July, but precipitation tapered off soon after, leading to a prolonged dry spell. The absence of rain caused daytime temperatures to rise significantly, while high humidity levels made conditions increasingly uncomfortable for residents.

Cloud cover began building over Pune on Friday morning before light to moderate showers swept through several localities. The rainfall provided much-needed respite from the heat and humidity that had gripped the city over the past week.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the pleasant weather is expected to continue over the next three to four days. The department has forecast generally cloudy skies with intermittent light rain across Pune and surrounding areas.

The IMD has also indicated that the city’s maximum temperature could drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the coming days, making weather conditions more comfortable for residents.

For Saturday, July 18, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain largely stable, while occasional light showers are likely during the day. Residents planning outdoor activities over the weekend are advised to carry umbrellas or raincoats as a precaution.

The return of rain is expected to improve weather conditions further, offering welcome relief after a week of warm, humid days.
