Pune, July 20, 2026: Shiv Sena Pune City President Pramod Nana Bhangire has demanded immediate repairs to the approach road leading to Abundant Life School in Krishna Nagar, Mohammadwadi, alleging that hundreds of schoolchildren are being forced to navigate muddy, waterlogged and unsafe roads during the monsoon.
According to Bhangire, even light rainfall leaves the road leading to the school submerged under stagnant water and slush, making it difficult and dangerous for students to reach their classrooms. Children are reportedly forced to walk through mud-filled stretches while parents struggle to escort them safely, raising serious concerns over their safety and well-being.
Criticising the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Bhangire questioned how the civic body could promote its Smart City vision while failing to provide basic infrastructure such as safe access roads to schools.
“It is unacceptable that young students have to risk their safety every day because of neglected roads. The PMC must immediately repair the damaged stretch and ensure a safe route for schoolchildren, parents and school staff,” he said.
Bhangire warned that if the civic administration fails to undertake immediate repairs, Shiv Sena will launch a strong democratic protest at the site in the interest of the students.
The party has urged the PMC to treat the issue as a priority and complete the road repairs at the earliest to ensure children can commute to school safely during the ongoing monsoon season.
