Maharashtra Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange Alert for Konkan and Ghat Regions, Yellow Alert for 7 Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for parts of Maharashtra, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Konkan and Ghat regions over the next 24 hours. A Yellow Alert has also been issued for seven districts as the monsoon continues to remain active across the state.

While rainfall intensity is expected to reduce in many parts of Maharashtra on July 25, heavy showers are likely to persist in parts of Konkan and the Western Ghats. Other regions are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall or experience mostly dry weather.

Orange Alert Areas

The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for:

• Raigad district
• Pune Ghat region
• Satara Ghat region

These areas are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, and residents have been advised to remain alert.

Yellow Alert for Seven Districts

A Yellow Alert has been issued for:

• Palghar
• Thane
• Mumbai
• Ratnagiri
• Sindhudurg
• Nashik Ghat region
• Kolhapur Ghat region

Heavy rainfall accompanied by winds of 60–70 kmph is expected in parts of the Konkan region.

Pune and Western Maharashtra Forecast

Pune district is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, while the Pune Ghat region remains under an Orange Alert due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain.

Light rainfall is also expected in Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur, although the Satara Ghat region is likely to witness intense rainfall. The Kolhapur Ghat region remains under a Yellow Alert.

North Maharashtra Forecast

Districts including Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik and Ahilyanagar are expected to receive light to moderate rain. However, heavy rainfall is likely in the Nashik Ghat region, prompting the IMD to issue a Yellow Alert.

Marathwada Forecast

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, while Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv are expected to receive light showers.

Vidarbha Forecast

Most parts of Vidarbha are expected to remain largely dry on July 25. Districts including Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal are likely to witness little or no rainfall.

Advisory

Although rainfall activity is expected to weaken across much of Maharashtra, the IMD has advised residents and tourists in the Konkan coast and Ghat regions to remain cautious. Heavy rain, gusty winds and slippery conditions may affect travel, and people are urged to follow official weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
