The Pashan – Sus road is a popular stretch frequently visited by locals. Despite the efforts of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and other NGOs who conduct regular clean up drives in the area, the Kids Zone on the Pashan Sus road remains littered with waste.

The volunteers who participated in the cleanliness drive expressed their concern about the state of the road and emphasized the need for a better way to prevent littering. They also highlighted the importance of setting a good example for children, who visit the area frequently and deserve a clean and healthy environment.

The volunteers hope that their efforts will inspire others to take up similar initiatives and contribute to keeping the city clean and beautiful. They also urged the authorities to take more effective measures to prevent littering and promote cleanliness in the area.

“We have been cleaning up the area multiple times along with PMC, NGO’s but within a few days the area is filled with waste. Kids zone is a dedicated area which demands basic cleanliness and hygienic environment. It’s caught between two compounds as a common area vs public area. More than someone has to bell the cat, it’s the prevention of litter that has to happen,” informed Sathya Natrajan, Captain Puneri Nayak Swachata League.

“We are collecting garbage regularly at that place, that specific spot is under the Abhinav College jurisdiction. We have already sent multiple letters to them to cover the area so that no one can throw garbage. Local residents and the public are seen throwing garbage on that spot. PMC has been regularly cleaning it up,” informed Sandeep Khalate, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Aundh-Baner Ward Officer, PMC.

“Even after regular clean up drives, this spot is an eyesore. Self discipline by residents and efficient pick up by PMC is needed,” complained Ashok Santame, a Pashan road resident.
