Pune News : Passengers spot smoke in Deccan Queen train

Pune: Earlier today, the Pune-Mumbai Deccan Queen Express faced an incident where smoke emanated from the air-conditioned coaches in the vicinity of Thakurwadi station, said officials.

As a safety measure, the train was immediately halted, and the issue was addressed to prevent any potential mishaps. Nevertheless, this resulted in a 30 minutes delay, and the train finally arrived at its intended destination, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai.

The train embarked from Pune at 7:15 am and had a scheduled technical stopover at Monkey Hill before proceeding towards Karjat. During this phase of the journey, the air-conditioned compartments C1 and C2 of the train started releasing smoke, which caused concern among the passengers.

Shivaji Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, Mumbai, the smoke issue stemmed from a problem with the Deccan Queen’s brake pads. Nonetheless, the train authorities resolved the problem quickly, and the train resumed its journey towards its destination without further delay.It is notable that similar incidents have occurred in the past, including an incident in October last year where a fire broke out in the women’s compartment of the train. Fortunately, there were no casualties in that incident.
