Dr. Shrikant Deshpande Calls for Strong Support and Solidarity with LGBTQIA+ Community
Dr Shrikant Deshpande also appealed to members of LGBTQIA+ community to register themselves as voters and exercise their rights

Pune: “For our democracy to be meaningful, the society must know the problems of the LGBTQIA+ community and stand firmly behind them,” asserted Dr Shrikant Deshpande, Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra while participating in the Pune Pride Walk of the LGBTQIA+ community organized by the organization ‘Yutak’ in Pune on Sunday. He also appealed to the attendees to register as voters and exercise their rights.
Bhausaheb Galande, Deputy Election Collector, Sneha Kisve-Devkate, Sub Divisional Officer, Radhika Haval-Bartakke Tehsildar and representatives of ‘LGBTQIA+’ community and Yutak Sanstha were present on this occasion.
Dr Deshpande said, “Everyone’s participation is important in the voting process to strengthen democracy. When the members of the ‘LGBTQIA+’ community present their problems, the society needs to pay attention to their issues.”
The rally was organized on the Sambhajiraje Udyan – Deccan bus station, Good Luck chowk – FC Gate – Shirole Road – Sambhajiraje Udyan route.
