Jewish community in Pune has entered active politics through an entry in BJP Maharashtra in the presence of Party state president, Chandrakant Patil. The community is said to be left with only 4200 jews, as compared to the tally of 70, 000 jews in the past. The community thanked the Bhartiya Janta Party for hearing their demands.

Ijaz Deshmukh, while talking to Pune Pulse, said “Jew community had kept a demand of declaring the community as a minority in the state. No one took a stance except for BJP. Chandrakant Patil has worked hard to fulfill our demands. No political party gave us the identity of minority, but the BJP has finally heard our voice. I am sure, our demands will be met in the coming time.”
“BJP is one of the largest democratic party in India. People are joining us voluntarily, which reflects the faith of people and communities in our party. I welcome the jew community to this party, and all the issues will be resolved, ” said Chandrakant Patil.
