RPF Apprehends 2 Gold Smugglers In Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express

Pune: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) caught 2 gold smugglers carrying 8.5 to 9 kg gold with them estimated to be around Rs 5.4 Crore from train No 12130 Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express at Nagpur Railway Station on Thursday.
As per information shared by the Central Railway, the RPF received a tip-off from a reliable source about the gold being smuggled in the train. The matter was conveyed to the senior officers i.e. Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Nagpur (SR DSC/Nagpur) and Assistant Security Commissioner (ASC), Nagpur.
Further, a special team consisting of 8 RPF personnel namely Head Constable Madan Lal, Constable Mohan Lal Dewangan, Constable Amol Chahajgune, Constable Sachin Sirsat, Sub-Inspector Mukesh Rathore, Constable Jasvir Singh, Lady Constable Sirin and, with assistance of Police Inspector, Crime Investigation Branch, Nagpur and along with 3 Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers, searched the above-mentioned train and identified 2 suspect passengers identified as Rahul & Baluram, both residents of Nagpur, seated on berth no 28 & 24 in S-4 coach with 2 bags which contained gold biscuits around 8.5 to 9 kg.
They were detained at Nagpur railway station on platform no 8 with the help of duty staff of RPF Post and were taken to the DRI office for further legal action.
The recovered gold has been confiscated by DRI officials and the market value of confiscated gold is approximately Rs 5.4 crores. Further investigation into the matter is on.
