Following BEST, now the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has also banned talking on mobile phones or playing loud songs, videos etc while traveling in NMMT buses. The NMMT administration has clarified that this decision has been taken to avoid inconvenience to fellow passengers. The NMMT administration has recently issued orders in this regard.
Many people talk loudly on mobile phones or play loud songs, videos while traveling in public sector buses. This causes trouble to fellow passengers. Most of the passengers traveling in the buses of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport Corporation have mobile phones.
It has been observed that the noise level of smartphone users is high, causing disturbance to other passengers in the bus. Due to the noise of mobile phones, arguments have started taking place among the passengers in the bus.
Against this backdrop, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport Corporation has prohibited passengers traveling in its buses from talking loudly on mobile phones or playing loud songs, videos.
Since the service of NMMT is a public transport service and passengers traveling by bus should not face any kind of trouble from other passengers, action can be taken against people who talk loudly on mobile phones or play loud songs, videos etc under the Mumbai Police Act (Section 38/1,2 and 112).
In this order, it has been clarified that the use of audio/video on mobile phones without earphones and talking in loud voice is prohibited in the buses of NMMT.
All the drivers, bus conductors and supervisory staff in the transport facility have been instructed to take note of this and implement it strictly.
