Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation Issues Warning to PCMC
Pune, December 12, 2023 – The Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has issued a stern warning to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), urging an immediate cessation of water tap disconnections affecting 41 societies with non-functional Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
In response to this aggressive move by the PCMC, the Federation has threatened a forceful protest, demanding action against the concerned officials.
Sanjeevan Sangale, President of the Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, expressed strong opposition to the Environment Department’s notices issued to 41 cooperative housing societies in Pimpri Chinchwad. These notices stipulated water tap disconnections due to the non-operation of STPs.
Sangale emphasized, “Our Federation vehemently opposes this decision and demands a resolution to our complaint. We insist on action against both the developers and PCMC officials responsible for this situation. Until a satisfactory resolution is reached, we will not permit the cutting of water supply connections to any society. If the Corporation persists in this action, a large-scale protest will be initiated by our Federation.”
The root cause of the issue lies in the installation of substandard sewage treatment plants by the builders of the 41 societies. Additionally, the lack of consent from society members during the transfer of society charge and the delivery of societies without functional STPs have exacerbated the problem.
A letter has been submitted to the PCMC Commissioner, highlighting the ongoing nature of some STP projects and calling for a thorough investigation before any decisive action. Despite this plea, the process of disconnecting water tap connections to the 41 societies has commenced.
The Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation demands an immediate suspension of this action and insists on a comprehensive investigation to address all related matters. As tensions rise, the Federation remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the interests of the affected societies and residents.
