Pune, December 12, 2023 – In a celebration of Pune’s cultural and historical richness, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up to host the Pune Book Festival on December 14 at SP College from 8 am. Going beyond traditional literary gatherings, this festival is set to make history by attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest reading activity.

The focal point of this ambitious endeavor is the special reading program titled ‘Shantata, Punekar Vachat Ahet,’ strategically designed to foster a reading culture among Punekars, especially children. A total of 4,500 students from various schools within the Pune Municipal Corporation and an equal number of parents are expected to participate in this groundbreaking event.

During the program, parents will engage in a 3 to 5-minute reading session with their children, aiming to instill a love for reading from an early age. The initiative not only underscores the importance of literacy but also seeks to create a memorable experience for families participating in the endeavor.

Moreover, the Pune Book Festival extends its invitation to all Punekars to join the ‘Shantata, Punekar Vachat Ahet’ reading activity on December 14th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm across the city. Encouraging widespread participation, Pune residents are urged to engage in this collective reading initiative.
