Vibrant Gujarat Summit: Maruti unveils futuristic 'Flying Car' concept alongside preview of electric model
Maruti Suzuki India, the nation’s premier automaker, presented an innovative concept on Wednesday, introducing a model of a car that not only runs on the road but also takes flight! This groundbreaking ‘Flying Car’ concept was showcased during the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki revealed the concept model of their upcoming electric car, the EVX.
Until now, only hybrid and electric cars were seen on the roads along with petrol and diesel in India. But, soon we will see flying cars flying in the air. The country’s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday showcased a concept model of a flying car at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Along with this, the company also showcased the concept model of its upcoming electric car EVX. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected Maruti’s Flying and EVX electric cars on display in Vibrant Gujarat.
Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki India also showcased a concept model of a flying car in Vibrant Gujarat, expressing its desire to launch a flying car service in India.
Aiming to launch flying car services in India, the company has partnered with Japanese startup Skydrive to develop ‘Skycar’, a multi-rotor aircraft. The Skycar concept envisions an all-electric flying taxi service for urban areas where building an airport might be difficult. As the prototype shows, the SkyCar can take off and land on the roofs of buildings.
The all-electric SUV concept has been incorporated into the Maruti EVX. The updated prototype has been given several minor updates over the previous edition that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. The Maruti Suzuki EVX will be the same size as the Grand Vitara SUV, with a length of 4,300 mm. The updated prototypes indicate that the car is entering the production stage and the design will be similar to the concept model.
What will be the price of Maruti EVX?
Maruti EVX is likely to be launched in India by April 2025. It is estimated that the price of Maruti EVX may start from Rs 25 lakh. It is a 5 seater car, which can accommodate five passengers.
The Maruti EVX electric SUV will be offered with a dual motor setup with a 60kW battery pack. The company claims that this vehicle will be able to cover a range of 550 km. This electric car can offer features like a large connected screen setup, wireless phone charging and a 360 degree camera. Once launched, the car will compete with the Hyundai Kona Electric and the MG ZS EV.
