Two orchestra bar owners were prosecuted by the Lonavala police on Friday for violating rules outlined in Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973.
Bars and permit rooms in the district were to close by 12:30 am on March 6th, according to a directive from the Pune rural police.
According to police, two businesses that were discovered to be open late into the night were playing loud music and seriously upsetting the nearby residents.
Authorities say that they received information on Friday morning about the late hours of operation of the Flavors Bar and Restaurant in Vadgaon and the Deepa Bar and Restaurant in Kamshet.
Police moved quickly, conducting raids on two eateries and enforcing penalties against them.
Strict guidelines for operating such establishments have been issued, according to the deputy superintendent of police, Lonavala division. However, even after that, they discovered that these two businesses were playing loud music, serving food and alcohol past the legal hours, and so they filed a lawsuit against them. Every establishment abides strictly by the rules set forth by the Pune Rural Police, and those who do not will face severe consequences.
