The Yerawada Metro station, a pivotal stop on the Vanaz-Ramwadi elevated route, is nearing its much-awaited opening following adjustments to its entry and exit points. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) expects final certification from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) within two weeks, signaling relief for commuters after a four-month delay since the route became operational.

Initially, protests by local activists prompted a redesign of the station’s entry-exit layout, which officials feared could cause traffic disruptions. Subsequently, the station remained closed to commuters pending the redesign’s completion.

Recently, a CMRS team conducted preliminary inspections and requested additional details, with final checks scheduled post-July 20. Maha Metro officials are optimistic about completing all formalities by the end of July, facilitating the station’s opening shortly thereafter.

Additionally, discussions are underway between Maha Metro and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) to introduce feeder bus services linking the station to Lohegaon airport, enhancing connectivity for travelers.

Regular commuters express readiness for the station’s prompt opening, urging authorities to ensure efficient initial operations.

They stress the importance of deploying sufficient staff initially to manage road traffic and facilitate smooth commuting for Metro users.
