LONAVALA, July 24, 2024 — The Lonavala Municipal Council has announced the closure of all schools on July 25 and 26 due to ongoing heavy rainfall. The decision aims to ensure the safety of students as the region continues to experience significant precipitation.
Ashok Sare, a representative from the Lonavala Municipal Council, confirmed the closure, stating that the hilly areas have been subjected to continuous downpours.
In the past 24 hours alone, Lonavala has recorded approximately 150mm of rain, with relentless rainfall persisting over the past week.
The Government of Maharashtra has issued an advisory urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel during this period of heavy rainfall, highlighting the potential hazards associated with the weather conditions.
