Concern Raised Over Dating Events In Public Parks In Pune
Pune, recognized for its vibrant cultural scene, is facing a troubling situation with alleged unauthorized dating events being advertised in its well-frequented parks. These events, which include “Start a Dating” and “Blind Dating” scheduled for Empress Garden this Saturday, are being promoted and sold online without the necessary permissions from park authorities or local police.
Empress Garden, a significant botanical site managed by the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India, has become an unexpected venue for these unauthorized dating events. Despite the event organizers advertising ticket prices of Rs 100 for women and Rs 800 for men, the garden’s management has confirmed that no such booking or approval has been granted. The management has filed a complaint with the Wanawadi Police Station, demanding an investigation into the matter.
Another event, titled “Bheta and Misla,” is set for this Saturday at Gnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Udyan along the Wakad-Bhosari BRT route. Tickets for this event are similarly priced at Rs 800 for men and Rs 100 for women.
A separate “Speed Dating” event planned at a mall in Koregaon Park next Saturday has also drawn scrutiny. Promotional materials suggest activities that may extend beyond standard social interactions, raising questions about the true nature of these gatherings.
Manager of Empress Garden, stated that the garden does not support or permit such events and has not authorized any bookings for them. Meanwhile, PI Sanjay Patange of Wanawadi Police Station mentioned that although a complaint has been filed, the organizers have claimed to possess valid documentation. Action will be taken if they fail to provide the required permits.
In light of these developments, the public is advised to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of such events before purchasing tickets.
