In anticipation of the highly awaited IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Mumbai Indians, lightened the mood by taking on the role of the team’s bus driver. The atmosphere at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was electric as Rohit’s act quickly went viral across social media platforms.

In a video circulating on social media, Rohit could be seen steering the Mumbai Indians’ bus amidst roaring cheers from the crowd gathered outside the stadium. The scene unfolded as the home team returned from their practice session to their hotel, with Rohit embracing his new role while his teammates cheered him on and captured the moment themselves.

Earlier in the day, Rohit arrived at the Wankhede Stadium in his Range Rover, bearing the number plate 0264, a nod to his record-breaking innings of 264 runs against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens, the highest individual score in ODI history. Accompanying him in the vehicle was MI co-owner Akash Ambani, with Rohit behind the wheel and the current India captain seated in the passenger seat.

Despite his slow start in the IPL season, Rohit has begun to find his rhythm as an opener, amassing 156 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 167.74, although he has yet to score a fifty.

As Mumbai Indians prepare to take on Chennai Super Kings in the season’s first ‘El Clasico’ match, Rohit’s leadership and performance will be crucial. Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, aim to secure a hat-trick of wins at home while adding to Chennai Super Kings’ woes with a third consecutive away loss. Currently, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings stand third in the table with three wins from five games, all secured at home, while Mumbai Indians, after a shaky start to the season, are placed seventh with four points from five games.
