The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been urged by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to start educational sessions for 9th and 10th grade students in response to the lack of an Urdu school to students beyond the 8th grade within a five-kilometer radius in the Kondhwa area.

The Sant Gadge Maharaj Primary School, Abdul Kalam Azad School, and Bapusaheb Darekar School in Kondhwa collectively cater to a student population of over 200. However, these three educational institutions solely provide Urdu education up to the 8th grade.

Unfortunately, there is a lack of educational facilities within a five-to-six-kilometer radius beyond this level. Consequently, an increasing number of girls are forced to discontinue their education due to the unaffordability of private schools. Parents are reluctant to send their daughters to schools located far away, which further contributes to the growing number of out-of-school girls.

In accordance with the recently implemented educational policy, the PMC assumes the duty of promoting accessible and high-quality education. Today, the representatives of AAP held a meeting with the highlighting the importance of government-funded classes for students in the 9th and 10th grades, irrespective of their gender, in the schools under the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction.

The concerns raised by the delegation regarding Maulana Abdul Kalam School were also brought to attention. Despite having a significant number of students, there is a shortage of benches and inadequate facilities for disabled students. The Deputy Commissioner provided assurance to the delegation that steps will be taken to initiate classes in the upcoming academic year.

In attendance at the meeting were Mukund Kirdat, the spokesperson for AAP, M Ali Syed, the President of Minority Alliance, Harun Ansari, Mukti Ahmed Hussain Qasmi, Naushad Ansari, Milind Sarode, Nitin Paigude, Shankar Thorat, Khushbu Ansari, Vikram Gaikwad, Rishikesh Marne, and several others.
