Pune: The Pune centre of Akashwani will soon be heard on ‘Frequency Modulation’ i.e. ‘FM’ instead of ‘Medium Wave’. This long-term demand of Pune residents will be fulfilled soon, and there are signs that Pune residents will also get a new centre called ‘FM Rainbow’. Therefore, complaints of not hearing the programs in the suburbs along with the central area will become history.

As per information, given the obstacles in broadcasting, changes in radio broadcasting technology and the demand of interested listeners, the Pune Center of Akashwani has requested the Ministry of Broadcasting and Information that the Pune Center of Akashwani should be shifted to ‘FM’ instead of ‘Medium Wave’ and new transmitters should be made available for it. Prasarbharati has responded positively to this demand.

Broadcasting technology has changed rapidly over the past few years. Medium-wave broadcasts are mainly heard from radio sets. But gradually radio sets are becoming obsolete. Citizens face disruptions due to disruptions in broadcasting. Broadcasting on ‘FM’ can be heard on all types of (non-internet) mobiles as well as small simple receivers. That is why there was a constant demand to shift this centre to ‘FM’.

Pune listeners were constantly following up on this. The Center had given funds to Prasar Bharati for infrastructure development. It will help in the creation of new centres and channels. Soon these transmitters will be available in Pune. So, Pune residents and regular listeners of Pune Akashwani Kendra from many places can enjoy listening to Pune Kendra’s broadcast on ‘FM’.
