During a fun conversation on Wheel of Fortune, the actor spoke about his love for traditional Gujarati food and joked about modern global food trends.

Akshay Kumar, known for his disciplined lifestyle, strict diet and early morning routine, recently revealed that his favourite comfort food is not trendy international cuisine but simple traditional Indian meals. The actor spoke about his love for Gujarati food during a candid and humorous conversation on the show “Wheel of Fortune.”

While interacting with digital creator Viraj Gehlani, the conversation turned to food habits and family traditions. Viraj shared how meals in his Gujarati household used to follow a structured weekly routine.

Main Gujarati family se aata hoon. Hamare ghar mein routine hota hai: Monday ko tuar ki daal, Tuesday normal, Wednesday moong ki daal, Friday kadhi, aur Saturday ko urad ki daal,” he said while describing the food culture he grew up with.

Listening to him, Akshay quickly expressed his fondness for the cuisine.
Yaar Gujarati khana mereko bahut maza aata hai. Mereko toh Gujarati thali bhi bahut sahi lagti hai,” the actor said enthusiastically.

Viraj also mentioned how seasonal dishes were an important part of their meals at home.
Season ho toh undhiyu bhi ban jaata hai,” he said, referring to the popular Gujarati winter delicacy.

The discussion took a humorous turn when Viraj spoke about how his diet had changed after marriage and how modern food trends had entered his life.

But ever since I am married, I eat avocado on Monday and sourdough bread on Tuesday,” he joked, hinting at how his eating habits shifted toward global foods.

Akshay responded by comparing traditional meals with modern food trends, making it clear which one he prefers.

Woh jo life thi na, jo undhiyu, jo tuar ki daal, usme jo mazza hai na… humara Hindustani khana hai jo, Gujarati thali ka jo maza hai, edamame aur baaki kisi aur cheez mein nahi hai,” he said.

The light-hearted conversation continued as Viraj revealed that he now often eats expensive international dishes that he does not even enjoy.

I eat Truffle Mushroom Pasta, sir. It’s so expensive… I don’t even like it, but my wife says you have to eat. Now you are sitting with big people,” he joked, leaving everyone laughing.

Amused, Akshay asked him, “So what’s the benefit of eating this?
Viraj replied, laughing, “Sir, it’s so expensive. I don’t know what the benefit is of eating this.

The duo also spoke about how unfamiliar some global foods once felt. Viraj joked, “Meri mummy ko pata nahi tha avocado kya hota hai. Sab log kiwi samajhkar khaate the.

Akshay shared a similar experience.
Actually mujhe bhi nahi pata tha avocado kya hota hai, baad mein jaake pata chala ki woh ek kamaal ka fruit hai,” he said.

Viraj further joked about how marriage had changed his way of speaking and eating habits, saying he had suddenly started using complex English words.

Relating to him, Akshay laughed and replied, “Pata nahi par teri kahani mere se thodi bahut milti julti hai. English ki baat aati hai toh mera bhi thoda haath baitha hai.

The candid exchange offered a glimpse into the actor’s lighter side. Despite the growing popularity of global food trends, Akshay Kumar made it clear that for him, nothing beats the comfort and taste of a traditional Gujarati thali.
