In response to a contempt petition, the central government notified that the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench that actors Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar have received notices regarding their roles in commercials for gutka companies. On Friday, the centre’s attorney told the High Court that the instant petition should be denied because the Supreme Court was also considering the same matter.

As per further information, the bench scheduled the hearing for May 9, 2024, after reviewing the submission. The central government was previously instructed by a bench of justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan to determine the petitioner’s representation. The petitioner had initially argued that actors and dignitaries who received high-profile awards but were advertising for gutka companies.

The petitioner contended that despite the representation being made to the government on October 22, nothing was done about it. Following its hearing of the contempt petition, the high court sent a notice to the central government’s Cabinet Secretary.

On Friday, the High Court was notified by Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey that Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgn had received show cause notices from the Center.
