On Sunday (10th December), a 20-year-old man from the Palghar district of Maharashtra allegedly made up his own kidnapping tale in order to get money from his father.

As per further information, a resident of Vasai complained to the Valiv police that his son had left the house on December 7 and never returned. On December 8, the police had registered a missing person’s case.

According to a police official, the complainant (father) got a call from his son during the investigation, telling him that three people had abducted him, held him captive, and were threatening to kill him unless they received a ransom of Rs 30,000.

In order to make the payment, the son also sent his father a QR code.

The police official stated that after that, four police teams were assembled and went around Vasai, Virar, Nallasopara, and other areas looking for the man.

On Saturday, after pursuing a number of leads, the 20 year old man was located in Vasai Phata.

Upon questioning him, the police learned that he was requesting money from his father, to which the latter was unwilling to provide. He therefore staged the kidnapping drama in order to get money from his father.

The 20-year-old man has been taken into custody by the police, and more investigation is underway.
