The Indian Gig Front Cabs (IGF Cabs) Association has demanded that, if other cab services can be run illegally in Pune, even the auto/cab drivers must be permitted to run their services in an illegal manner. The association has warned that if the revised cab rates aren’t implemented immediately to ensure fair earnings for auto/cab drivers, they will stage a fierce protest soon.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Keshav Kshirsagar, President, IGF Cabs & Baghtoy Rickshawala Association, said “Today (12th February), we are going to meet the senior Pune RTO officer Sanjeev Bhor. We had told him to give us a decision regarding the revised cab rates implementation till Monday (12th February). Hence, if the RTO gives their decision today & that too a fair, beneficial & genuinely assuring one, we will wait. Otherwise, we will soon announce about the protest.”

As per further information shared by Dr Keshav Kshirsagar,

On several cabs in Pune, posters with the following text have been pasted:

“Allow us to do illegal business too! Without any valid license, cab companies are exploiting poor drivers in the state & getting rich. Officials are silent. Why should the poor drivers follow all the rules?”

Dr Keshav Kshirsagar further says that several cab companies do not follow the rules of the administration by not implementing revised cab rates announced by the Pune District Collector, exploiting the hardworking cab drivers, auto drivers etc. No action is taken against the cab companies.

Hence, the cab drivers, whose daily income is in crisis, are going to launch a severe protest in the next few days.
