Pune, April 10: Asomi Pune, the city’s Assamese community group, is set to mark its 10th anniversary with a grand musical celebration on April 12, coinciding with Rongali or Bohag Bihu – the Assamese New Year festival.
The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by popular Assamese singer Neel Akash, known for his soulful melodies and high-energy stage presence. The event will be held at Mauli Garden, Baner, and is expected to draw a large gathering of Assamese residents from across Pune.
Over the past several years, Asomi Pune has consistently celebrated Rongali Bihu with cultural programmes, music, and dance, fostering a strong sense of community. This year’s event promises to be even more special, with the milestone 10th anniversary adding to the festive spirit.
“Rongali Bihu is not just a celebration of the Assamese New Year, but a time to reconnect with our roots and share our traditions with the wider community. This year, we are thrilled to have Neel Akash with us for what promises to be an unforgettable evening,” said a member of the organising committee.
The celebration will feature a blend of nostalgic folk tunes, modern Assamese hits, and traditional performances, aiming to capture the essence of Assam’s vibrant culture.
