Auto drivers to go on indefinite strike from November 28

The auto drivers of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have announced that they will go on a strike from November 28 as the government has not taken any action even after their protest against illegal bike taxis.

At least 50,000 autos in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad will participate in the strike, out of the half-a-million.  The announcement of the strike was made at a press conference held by the organisations concerned.  At least 10 to 12 different organizations such as Shivneri Association, MNS Traffic Sena, Traffic Aghadi Union, Ashirwad Association, AIMIM Association, Shiva Transport Service Association, Ajinkya Association, Pune City Tempo Men’s Union, Savakash Rickshaw Association will participate in the strike.

The striking drivers claim that the number of illegal bikes taxis have increased in the cities of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad in the last one year.

The announcement of the strike has not gone well with the auto drivers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad who said that their losses will be more than the benefits. They are a worried lot as they think this strike would put them out of work.
