Pune, January 23, 2026: The prestigious Pune Grand Tour 2026 concluded successfully on Thursday with the completion of its final stage, creating a new milestone in the history of international cycling events. With meticulous planning, world-class infrastructure, disciplined execution, and overwhelming public participation from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the event emerged as a memorable spectacle for sports enthusiasts in India and abroad.

The race was broadcast live across India and the Indian subcontinent on Star Sports and JioHotstar, while viewers in more than 70 countries across Europe and other regions watched the event on global platforms such as HBO Max and Discovery Plus. The worldwide telecast showcased Pune district’s scenic tourist destinations, wide and beautifully decorated roads, historic landmarks, rich cultural heritage, Marathi theatre and music traditions, vibrant sports culture, eco-friendly initiatives, and modern infrastructure to a global audience.

The final stage of the race began in the afternoon from the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Mahalunge–Balewadi and passed through key city landmarks including Pashan, NCL Ground, Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk, Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, Rakshak Chowk, Kalewadi, Dange Chowk, Sant Tukaram Maharaj Bridge, Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Bhakti-Shakti Chowk, Triveni Nagar, PCNTDA, Spine Road, Nal Stop, Laxminarayan Chowk, Seven Loves Chowk, Turf Club, National War Memorial, Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, Shaniwar Wada, Sakhar Sankul, FC Road and Jangli Maharaj Road, before concluding at the Balgandharva Rangmandir.

Along the 99.15-kilometre route, citizens from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad lined both sides of the roads to cheer the international cyclists. An estimated 1.4 million people witnessed the final stage in person, marking a significant moment in global cycling history and setting a new record for public participation in an international cycling event.

The beautification of city junctions, cleanliness drives, systematic traffic management, green landscaping, LED screens, cultural performances, and the enthusiastic presence of citizens enhanced Pune’s visual appeal during the live broadcast. Commentators highlighted the city’s history, cultural traditions, and modern progress in an engaging narrative. Iconic sites such as Shaniwar Wada, Balgandharva Rangmandir, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Lal Mahal, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and the Pataleshwar Cave Temple on Jangli Maharaj Road were introduced to global viewers, underlining Pune’s unique blend of heritage and modernity.

During the preceding three days as well, the live telecast featured information on forts, tourist attractions, and the cultural legacy of Pune district.

International cyclists, technical officials, coaches, and sports enthusiasts arrived in large numbers for the event. Ensuring their safety, the police, traffic department, health services, volunteers, and various government agencies worked in close coordination. Officials from global cycling bodies expressed satisfaction over the smooth and incident-free conduct of the race.
