Bangladeshi National Arrested In Pune With Fake Documents; Police Seize Aadhaar Card, Passport

Pune, January 18, 2025 – A Bangladeshi national residing illegally in Pune was arrested by Swargate Police in the Maharshinagar area. The police seized fake documents, including an Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, and PAN card, from the accused. Authorities are investigating how the suspect managed to obtain these forged documents.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ehsan Hafiz Sheikh (34), a resident of Maharshinagar near Aruna Asif Ali Garden in Gultekdi, originally from Bangladesh. Sheikh had been residing in Pune for the past ten years. He is now facing charges under various sections of the Foreigners Act, Passport Act, and provisions related to possession of forged documents.
According to Swargate Police, Sheikh entered India illegally in 2014 and started a garment business in Pune. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in Maharshinagar and detained him. During questioning, fake identification documents were recovered from his possession.
The investigation, led by Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre and Sub-Inspector Ashok Patil, is focused on uncovering the network behind the creation of the forged documents. Further inquiries are ongoing.
