A 35-year-old Bangladeshi woman, identified as Fatima Amjad Akhtar, has been arrested by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police for living illegally in India for nearly eight years. The arrest took place in Bhosari, where she had been residing under false identities to avoid detection.

According to officials, Fatima had entered India on a tourist visa several years ago while looking for work but did not return after her visa expired. She lived in Bhosari using the names ‘Mala Vitthal Davkhar’ and ‘Fatima Begum Faimuddin’ and worked as a domestic help to sustain herself.

Police investigations revealed that Fatima married a man from Karnataka, who was aware of her expired visa and Bangladeshi citizenship. The couple had recently shifted to Chakrapani Vasahat, where the police tracked her down.

The Bhosari police have begun the deportation process to send her back to Bangladesh. A case has also been registered against her landlord under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for failing to report the presence of a foreign national staying at his property.

This arrest is part of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police’s ongoing crackdown on illegal foreign residents. So far, 19 Bangladeshi nationals have been detained for overstaying or residing without valid documents, and officials believe more such cases may emerge during further investigations.
