Bank Holiday Alert: Banks To Remain Closed For 13 Days In June 2026; Check Full RBI Holiday List
Bank customers planning branch visits in June should take note of the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, which includes weekends, regional festivals and a long weekend linked to Muharram.
With June 2026 set to begin, bank customers may want to plan important branch visits in advance. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its holiday calendar for June, and banks across various states will remain closed for up to 13 days during the month, including weekends and regional holidays.
The holiday schedule includes all Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, as well as state-specific festivals and commemorative occasions. While bank branches will remain shut on these dates, customers will continue to have access to digital banking services without interruption.
According to the RBI calendar, banks across the country will remain closed on June 7, 14, 21 and 28 (Sundays). In addition, June 13 (Second Saturday) and June 27 (Fourth Saturday) will be nationwide bank holidays.
Several states will also observe local holidays during the month. On June 15, banks will remain closed in Aizawl for YMA Day and in Bhubaneswar for Raja Sankranti. On June 17, banks in parts of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh will remain shut on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti. A day later, on June 18, banks in Punjab will remain closed to mark the Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji.
The final week of June will bring a significant break in several cities due to the Muharram-Ashura holiday and the weekend.
Banks in Vijayawada are expected to remain closed on June 25 for Muharram-related observances. On June 26, banks in several major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Srinagar, Bhopal and Ranchi, are expected to remain closed for Muharram and Ashura.
This will be followed by the fourth Saturday holiday on June 27 and the weekly Sunday holiday on June 28, creating a three to four-day long weekend in several regions.
The holiday spell continues in some states after the weekend. Banks in Shimla, Haryana, Punjab and Chhattisgarh are expected to observe a holiday on June 29 for Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti, while banks in Aizawl will remain closed on June 30 for the Remna Ni festival.
Despite branch closures, customers will still be able to carry out transactions through UPI, internet banking, mobile banking apps, IMPS, NEFT services, debit cards, credit cards and ATMs. Most routine banking activities, including fund transfers and bill payments, will continue to operate normally through digital channels.
Customers planning visits for KYC updates, locker access, demand drafts, cheque-related work or other branch-specific services are advised to check local holiday schedules beforehand to avoid inconvenience.
