Bank Holidays This Week: Banks to Remain Closed on These Days Between July 20 and 26; Check RBI Holiday List
20 July, 2026: If you have important banking work planned next week, it is advisable to check the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar before heading to your nearest bank branch. Between July 20 and July 26, 2026, banks will remain closed on different days across various states due to regional festivals, along with the weekly holidays.
However, not all bank holidays apply nationwide. Several closures are state-specific, meaning bank branches may remain open in one state while being closed in another.
According to the RBI holiday schedule:
- July 20 (Monday): Banks will remain open across most states, with no scheduled holiday.
- July 21 (Tuesday): Banks may remain closed in select states due to local festivals, while branches in other states will function normally.
- July 22 (Wednesday): Banks in Agartala (Tripura) will remain closed on account of Kharchi Puja.
- July 23 (Thursday): Banks will operate as usual across the country.
- July 24 (Friday): Some states may observe local holidays, leading to bank closures in specific regions.
- July 25 (Saturday): Banks across India will remain closed as it is the fourth Saturday of the month, in accordance with RBI guidelines.
- July 26 (Sunday): All bank branches will remain closed due to the weekly Sunday holiday.
The RBI issues an annual bank holiday calendar that includes national holidays, religious festivals, state-specific occasions and weekends. As a result, customers should verify the holiday schedule applicable to their state before planning a visit to a bank branch.
Despite branch closures, digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs will continue to function normally. Customers can carry out online fund transfers, bill payments and other digital transactions without interruption.
Those who need to deposit or withdraw cash, submit cheques or complete documentation at a branch are advised to complete these tasks on working days to avoid inconvenience.
