Maharashtra Weather Update: Light to Moderate Rain Likely on Monday; Yellow Alert for Pune and Satara Ghat Areas

Mumbai, July 20, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across several parts of Maharashtra on Monday, with a Yellow Alert issued for the Pune and Satara Ghat regions where isolated heavy showers are likely.

After an active spell of rainfall in early July, the southwest monsoon weakened over the state, leading to hot, humid conditions and below-normal rainfall in many districts. While scattered showers have returned over the past few days, the IMD expects the monsoon to gradually regain strength during the coming week.

Konkan to Receive Widespread Rain

The coastal districts of Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on Monday. Although no weather warning has been issued for the Konkan region, meteorologists expect rainfall activity to increase across most coastal areas.

North Maharashtra Likely to See Light Showers

Light rainfall is forecast for Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Nashik, and the Nashik Ghat region. No weather alerts have been issued for North Maharashtra, where farmers continue to await more widespread rainfall for agricultural activities.

Yellow Alert for Pune and Satara Ghat Regions

In Western Maharashtra, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are expected to receive light to moderate rain.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for the Pune and Satara Ghat regions, where isolated heavy showers are likely. However, widespread heavy rainfall is not expected across the entire region, and uneven rainfall continues to remain a concern for the farming community.

Marathwada to Experience Humid Weather with Scattered Rain

The districts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are likely to witness light rainfall. No alerts have been issued for the region.

Several parts of Marathwada continue to experience humid weather, and below-average rainfall has raised concerns among farmers over the possibility of re-sowing crops if adequate rainfall does not arrive soon.

Vidarbha to Receive Light Rain

Light showers are also expected across parts of Vidarbha, including Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Nagpur. The IMD has not issued any weather warnings for the region.

Monsoon Expected to Strengthen

According to the IMD, there are no major weather alerts for most districts of Maharashtra on July 20, except for the Pune and Satara Ghat areas.

Meteorologists have indicated that the southwest monsoon is likely to become more active over the next two to three days, bringing improved rainfall across several parts of the state. The expected revival is likely to provide relief to farmers and help improve soil moisture after an extended dry spell in many regions.
