Pune: Residents of Bavdhan are worried due to the lack of sufficient traffic dividers and traffic wardens causing issues while commuting from this road.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ramchandra Khaladkar, a resident of Shinde Nagar, Bavdhan, said, “The traffic from Kothrud side, Pashan side etc. is huge. At several places, traffic dividers are missing. It causes serious problems while driving as people tend to overtake and drive rashly. Dividers aren’t installed on small roads due to space constraints. However, in such cases, some other concrete steps must be taken regarding this soon.”

Nilesh Gosavi, a resident of Shinde Nagar, Bavdhan said, “The traffic coming towards Shinde Nagar from NDA & Pashan side is too much & cement dividers are put up there. However, they are not end-to-end. Also, light reflectors must be put on them as in evening or night time, motorists coming from there have met with accidents. Also, an appropriate number of traffic wardens must be there for commuters to drive properly & follow rules.”

Devesh Wani, a resident of Bavdhan and a member of Bavdhan Citizens Forum said, “Given the non-sufficient number of traffic wardens, no parking boards, dividers etc.various areas are a big mess to drive. We had a meeting with the traffic police where the Assistant Inspector assured us of providing all the 3 things soon. Several no-parking boards near the Axis Bank area have come up. However, an appropriate number of traffic wardens, dividers etc. demands have not been fulfilled yet. Also, zebra crossings have been painted at most of the places.”

CS Krishnan, a resident of Bavdhan and a core member of the Bavdhan Citizens Forum said, “With the development at Chandni Chowk, the Bavdhan traffic department has not been able to perform well due to the shortage of manpower. With the introduction of signals by the Smart City Department at Axis Bank junction (Lane 8) and HEMRL junction, traffic personnel are not able to execute their work. At Axis Bank, we, the citizens from Bavdhan Citizens Forum, along with a few auto rickshaw members, have been manning the traffic during peak hours. The presence of traffic police would make a lot of difference in executing traffic discipline, which would be maintained. We want the authorities to immediately increase the manpower as soon as possible to witness a smooth flow of traffic. Installing proper dividers will help the traffic department to control traffic without manpower.”

Sachin Kadam, Assistant Police Inspector, Bavdhan Traffic Police said, “We have already sent many requests to increase traffic manpower & will resolve the divider issue as well.”
