Following a strict directive from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), a Kalewadi advertising agency, Shubhangi Advertising, has taken prompt action to remove its advertisement hoardings located near the Tuljabhavani Temple in Akurdi.

Under the provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act (Mumbai Provincial Municipal Corporation Act) rule 244 and 245, as well as the advertisement and hoarding control notification dated May 9, 2022, PCMC allows the erection of advertisement hoardings in private spaces with prior permission from the Municipal Corporation. These billboard licensees are required to renew their licenses annually in accordance with the Advertising and Billboard Control Notification Act, also dated May 9, 2022.

A complaint received by the authorities highlighted an incident on August 23, 2023, where a tree in front of an advertisement hoarding next to Akurdi Tuljabhavani Temple was reportedly cut down in the early morning hours.

Shubhangi Advertising, being an official licensee in Kalewadi, was served a notice through the Sky Signs and Licensing Department for violating rule 22 (d) of the Government of Maharashtra Advertising Regulation and Control, resulting in the revocation of its permission to display the hoarding. The agency was instructed to promptly remove the hoarding.

In response to the notice, Shubhangi Advertising voluntarily removed the hoarding on September 8, 2023.

In light of this incident, all billboard license holders within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are strongly advised not to engage in unauthorized tree cutting and to seek prior permission from the Garden Department for any tree trimming or cutting activities. Failure to comply with these regulations may lead to the cancellation of their official licenses in accordance with rule 22 (d) of the Maharashtra Government Advertising Regulation and Control.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to local regulations and environmental considerations when erecting and maintaining advertisement hoardings in public spaces.
