During a compelling five-day pursuit, forest officials in Bengaluru euthanized a roaming leopard that had been sighted in multiple locations in the southern part of the city since Saturday. The leopard was captured near Electronics City at Kudlu Gate and later succumbed to a gunshot wound at the veterinary hospital in Bannerghatta Biological Park.

It is reported that the injury occurred when one of the forest department officials discharged their firearm. Veterinarians were attempting to sedate the leopard when it turned aggressive and attacked them.

As per the information received, leopard had assaulted veterinary doctor Kiran and another staff member, resulting in severe injuries. Subsequently, the leopard attempted to attack another staff member, prompting the individual to shoot the animal in self-defense. Despite efforts to revive the leopard in Bannerghatta, it unfortunately succumbed to its injuries. Lingaraju emphasized that they possessed the necessary authorization to use lethal force when a wild animal poses a threat to human life.

The forest department, in response to multiple sightings of the elusive feline on the outskirts of Bengaluru, established two cages for the purpose of capturing the animal three days ago. Additionally, night patrolling and police teams have collaborated in this endeavor.
