Bhide Bridge Closed for Six Weeks: Alternative Routes Announced
Share This News
Pune – The Bhide Bridge, an important link connecting Deccan Gymkhana and Shaniwar Peth across the Mutha River, has been closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting April 20. The closure will remain in effect until June 6 to facilitate the construction of a new foot overbridge by Pune Metro.
The new foot overbridge aims to improve pedestrian access between the Peth areas—such as Shaniwar Peth, Narayan Peth, and Laxmi Road—and the Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station. According to Pune Metro officials, this is part of a larger infrastructure development plan to enhance connectivity across the river.
In addition to this project, two more foot overbridges are under construction. One of them, connecting Shaniwar Peth to the Bal Gandharva Metro Station, is nearly complete and expected to open soon.
