BJP demands reduction of VAT from petrol and diesel prices; holds protest in Pune

Bharatiya Janata party Pune city held a protest against the state government demanding reduction of VAT from petrol and diesel prices.

BJP Pune city president Jagdish Mulik stated that the state government is not keen on reducing the VAT on petrol and diesel prices. The surge in petrol and diesel prices is affecting the common man and prices of essential commodities have already seen hike.

The central government recently slashed the petrol and diesel prices, which was followed by 11 states reducing VAT from petrol diesel. But in case if Maharashtra this has not yet happened. The citizens are feeling dejected, alleged the protestors.

The protest was held at Mahatma Phule Mandai to draw state government’s attention to several important unresolved issues such as state government must reduce the VAT on petrol and diesel prices, resolve issues of ST workers and also take stern action against the irregularities in the health department exams.

Mulik further said that the state government has failed to work for the betterment of the citizens. The central government has reduced the prices, now if the state government slashes the VAT prices from petrol and diesel life will be easy for common citizens. Prices of essential commodities will come down automatically. But the government is not keen on doing anything.

The protest was held by Jagdish Mulik, city president, BJP Pune, general secretary Ganesh Ghosh, Rajesh Yenpure, Datta Khade, Sandeep Lonkar, Swarada Bapat, Womens president Archana Patil, Pramod Kondhre, Ravindra Salegaonkar, Dhananjay Jadhav, Punit Joshi and others.
