Participates in silent march during Pune bandh

Pune: In the silent march of various political parties and organisations that ended with a gathering at Lal Mahal, all political leaders of Pune were present.  Udayanraje Bhosale, descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was also present. The bandh was called after the insulting remarks made by Maharashtra Governor and few other political leaders. 

Speaking at sabha, BJP MP Udayanraje Bhosale said, “Several people have said things that are debatable about Maharaj. There is no reason why Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should not be honoured. There is no politics involved in this because I already explained my role. Nupur Sharma, a BJP spokesperson who made the contentious remark, was suspended but now after insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj no such action has been taken. The remarks made by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari along with BJP leaders on Chhatrapati Shivaji has created a controversy. As a result, a bandh was called and this received immense support.

Huge police force deployed during the march

Around 7,500 policemen  were deployed in Pune for the bandh called by the various political parties and prominent Maratha organisation Sambhaji Brigade. As the silent march started  from Deccan, a police force was deployed at Alka chowk. 

Pune City Police Commissioner had ordered police station chiefs and officers to ensure the safety of everyone. He had also appealed to the people participating in the band to cooperate with police
Various auto rickshaw unions, trader’s association, Dalit organisations, Ganesh mandals, Bank unions and various spots association extended their support to the bandh. 

The Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Pune remained closed till 3 pm. While only 10 percent of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses were deployed, most of the shops remained closed. 
Few schools declared a holiday for students due to logistics issues.
