Bus-Lorry Collision Turns Fatal In Andhra Pradesh, Over 14 Burnt Alive
Fire after impact traps passengers inside bus; several injured as rescue operations continue
A devastating road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram district has claimed the lives of at least 14 people, with several others injured after a private bus collided with a tipper lorry and caught fire.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning near Rayavaram, where the bus, reportedly travelling with multiple passengers, rammed into a gravel-loaded tipper. The impact was so severe that the bus immediately caught fire, leaving passengers trapped inside.
According to police officials, many victims were burnt alive as flames spread rapidly through the vehicle, leaving little time for escape. Around 18 injured passengers were rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Some are said to be in critical condition.

Rescue teams faced significant challenges due to the intensity of the fire. Officials indicated that some bodies were initially trapped inside the burnt bus, making retrieval efforts difficult and time-consuming. Authorities are still working to identify victims and inform their families.
Preliminary reports suggest that the collision was head-on, though the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Police have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances leading to the crash.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care. He also ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident.
This tragic accident has once again raised serious concerns about road safety and emergency response preparedness, especially in high-impact crashes involving passenger vehicles.
