Pimple Saudagar: Umesh Kate Steps Forward With a Blend of Tradition, Education and Local Service
In Rahatani and Pimple Saudagar, Umesh Ganesh Kate has emerged as a familiar face combining cultural roots with modern civic engagement. Holding an MBA and a BSc in Computer Science, Kate credits his family’s “wari” tradition for shaping his outlook toward community service.
His grandfather, Vitthal Kondiba Kate, began the local Kakada Aarti and guided the family into the Warkari tradition. The legacy was later carried forward by his father. Kate says this background instilled values of collective responsibility and service, which he tried to channel into structured social work.
Through his initiative PLESCO, Umesh has focused on skill development for youth, self-employment support for women and assistance with local civic issues. Residents describe Pimple Saudagar as a rapidly growing and increasingly modern ward with new demands on planning, infrastructure and public services.
Kate argues the area now needs fresh ideas, modern planning and confident decision-making to move to the next level. He thanked residents for their trust and said he hopes their support continues as he enters the upcoming civic election process.
