In a remarkable display of community spirit, over 1000 residents from the entire Bavdhan area came together on June 25th to participate in a mega cleanliness drive aimed at tidying up the entire locality. The initiative received overwhelming support and participation from enthusiastic residents.

Deepa Prabhu, of Bavdhan Citizens’ Forum and the organizer of the drive, emphasized the importance of establishing a Zero Waste Community in Bavdhan. Prabhu urged every society and individual to take responsibility for their waste by adopting recycling practices or composting wet waste within their premises. With a large population residing in Bavdhan, Prabhu observed that a substantial amount of waste was accumulating on service roads and main thoroughfares. She recognized the need for a comprehensive cleanliness drive and, with the support of 80 contributors and planners, successfully organized the event.

Dushyant Bhatia, a resident of Ramnagar Colony in Bavdhan, highlighted the community’s efforts to clean the entire area and minimize waste sent to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The residents aimed to divert waste to recyclers and implement composting practices within Bavdhan itself. Bhatia shared that this initiative had been ongoing for the past five years, with the goal of achieving a cleaner Bavdhan.

The drive witnessed participation from various renowned institutions and organizations, including Adar Poonawala Clean Cities, INORA, Pune Municipal Corporation, Kunal Vedepatil, LMD, Abhijeet Dagade Patil, Kiran Dagade Patil, Saintco, Dawn Studios, The Art of Living, ProEarth, Eco Regain, and many others.
