During the inauguration of the passenger service on the District Court to Swargate metro route, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized the state government’s commitment to addressing traffic congestion in Pune. The virtual ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also marked the groundbreaking for the southern extension of the metro line from Swargate to Katraj. Key projects, including the revamped Solapur airport and the KrantiJyoti Savitribai Phule girls’ school memorial, were inaugurated.
Shinde stated, “As Pune expands with its growing IT sector and educational institutes, our transport system is under immense strain. It is our responsibility to solve these traffic challenges. Projects like the metro are crucial, and we must prioritize expanding our metro network.”
The event featured Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol, and other dignitaries, with Governor CP Radhakrishnan participating virtually.
Highlighting Maharashtra’s industrial growth, Shinde noted, “We are implementing various projects with central government support to boost development. Maharashtra attracts 52 percent of the country’s foreign investment.”
